I've been wildly crazy about henna patterns lately. This is a 7x5 card that I've been working intricate patterns on. It's still a work in progress but I had to share. I'm loving the way it's turning out already and plan to do a series of ATCs based on henna designs. I love the look of actual henna on the body. The burnt umber color just appeals to me and there is something so powerful and drawing to me. I've been hoping to find a local henna artist so that I could get a good henna tattoo done. Heck, I would like to learn to do henna tattoos. They're so beautiful . I love reading about henna and the history and importance in the cultures it appears in.

This is WAYYYY cool! I just had henna done on my hand a few weeks back! My friend taught me how to do it and I just need to find good dye - then I'll be all set to go!

I plan (if I ever do get married) to have the traditional mendhi done on the palms of my hands. I think it is so striking and gorgeous! If you ever decide to do a swap using henna design ideas, I'm in! :)

Thanks Rose! That would be way cool. This is actually a really HUGE piece for me. I usually don't work so big anymore.

I love the design. And if there is an Indian store near you--that is where ya get the good henna.

Several years ago I made a trip to the Bum_ _ _ _ part of Atlanta and bought some I just couldn't do a good design. But that was good henna. I used a stencil and did a sunburst on my palm.

What AWESOME intricacy! This was the type of art I was doing in 8th grade that my art teacher hated. Told me I had to work BIG not tiny. So I quit doing this kind of intricate work, thinking it wasn't "real" art!

Wow, Chels, you are already SUCH an inspiration to me!!! I think I owe you a fresh box of Crayolas (for sniffing, of course!) just from all the inspiration I've gotten from just one page of your blog!!!

If you don't already know it, you are an AWESOME and AWE-INSPIRING artist!
